Harlequins player ratings v Stormers: Relief for Quins as they run riot against South African visitors

A struggling Harlequins side made light work of a weakened Stormers team, running in nine tries in a dominant 61–10 win. Five tries in the opening 30 minutes set the tone for a one‑sided afternoon at the Stoop.

Jack Kenningham opened the scoring after sustained pressure in the 22, before Damien Willemse briefly departed for an HIA. Moments later, a Stormers penalty allowed Bryn Bradley to gather a clever kick and send Cadan Murley over in the corner.

Alex Dombrandt then burst through from an inside ball as Quins’ defence and attack clicked seamlessly.

An Alex Dombrandt charge‑down created Chandler Cunningham‑South’s try for the bonus point inside 25 minutes, and the back three combined superbly for Nick David to extend the lead to 31–0. Stormers barely entered Quins’ half in a first period they will want to forget.

The second half brought more of the same. David crossed twice more—first after Cunningham‑South bulldozed through the line, then from a loose ball he scooped up to run in from halfway. Lucas Friday’s break set up Zach Carr for another score seconds after he came on.

Stormers finally responded through Imad Khan and later Dylan Maart, but the damage was long done. Jarrod Evans capped the performance with the final try, taking Quins past 60 points.

Post‑match, the Stormers head coach admitted his side were outclassed: “Physically they had us down, and they moved the ball well into space… that’s the Quins way.”

15 Tyrone Green (subbed off 60’) - 7.5

Green was central to Quins’ attacking intent, looking to play rather than kick. Part of an emphatic back three who were practically running circles around the Stormers.

14 Nick David (subbed off 63’)- 9

A key figure in a back three that tore the Stormers apart. Rewarded with a score after slick interplay, and added two more in the second half, securing an incredible Hat-trick. He looked liberated, playing the Quins way with confidence.

13 Luke Northmore - 7.5

Carried strongly in midfield, making metres with every flat ball. Defensively solid, helping shut down Stormers’ attempts to gain ground. The improved defensive connection across the park was clear, and he played a fundamental part in that, working closely with 12 Bryn Bradley.

12 Bryn Bradley - 8

Impressive alongside Northmore on his first Champions Cup start. The England U20s star put his body on the line and handled the physicality well. His midfield connection with Northmore was evident and played a pivotal part in the Quins attack.

11 Cadan Murley - 8.5

Part of a near‑faultless back three in the first half and continued strongly after the break. Caused constant problems, won turnovers, and exploited gaps all afternoon. He was rewarded with a try in the first half which saw him dive athletically in the corner, an afternoon to be proud of as he eyes up an England shirt for the Six nations

10 Marcus Smith - 7.5

Managed the game well and pulled the strings effectively, though the trademark Marcus Smith spark felt just out of reach. A strong win, but he’ll feel there was more to give.

9 Lucas Friday (subbed off 64’) - 9

A hugely impressive first Champions Cup start. His distribution was sharp, his kicking intelligent, and he showed surprising physicality. Jason Gilmore was quick to praise him post‑match: “He’s a great player, his ceiling is so high.” He will most definitely be eyeing some involvement in the six nations

1 Simon Kerrod (subbed off 50’) - 6.5

Carried strongly and helped secure scrum penalties early on. While others shone individually, he struggled to fully impose himself.

2 Jack Walker (subbed off 60’) - 7

Excellent at the lineout and carried well. Provided a strong platform at set piece, enabling Quins to unleash their attacking game.

3 Pedro Delgado (subbed off 45’) - 6.5

A shaky start with an early scrum penalty but recovered well as Quins took control of the set piece. Would have liked more carrying chances, but his scrummaging was influential.

4 Guido Petti Pagadizábal (subbed off 60’) - 6.5

Strong in the lineout and part of a dominant set piece. Combined well with fellow Argentine Delgado to disrupt Stormers ball.

5 Kieran Treadwell - 7

Formidable at set piece and disruptive at the ruck. Didn’t see much ball but worked tirelessly to put Quins in strong positions.

6 Chandler Cunningham‑South - 8.5

A dominant carrying performance that set the tone physically. Helped Quins rediscover their attacking rhythm, and was rewarded for his physicality with a try in the 25^th minute after a loose ball fell to him

7 Jack Kenningham (subbed off 60’) - 10

Jack spoke midweek about becoming a senior figure and my oh my did he deliver. Outstanding in the first half and deservedly scored the opener he then carried on in the second half to secure a man of the match performance. Jason Gilmore praised him post‑match: “His ambition is to put an England shirt on… Jack’s been at the heart of everything we’ve done this season.”

8 Alex Dombrandt (C) (subbed off 60’) - 9

Captain Dombrandtled superbly, disrupted the breakdown, carried hard, and scored. His charge‑down created Cunningham‑South’s try, and he set the tone with the rest of the back row the whole time he was on the pitch. With the Six Nations looming, he’ll be firmly in England contention. Having spent time in and out of the national squad he will be eager to get back.

Replacements

16 George Turner (on 60’) - 6

Performed well but entered just as Stormers gained some momentum, limiting his influence.

17 Will Hobson (on 50’) - 6.5

Maintained physicality and ensured Stormers couldn’t match Quins’ power, but did not influence much else.

18 Harry Williams (on 45’) - 6.5

Solid in the set piece and kept standards high. Quins scored less in the second half, but he still contributed well.

19 Elliot Williams (on 60’) - 6

Little opportunity to influence but helped maintain set‑piece strength.

20 Zach Carr (on 60’) - 7

Made an instant impact, finishing after a break from Lucas Friday. However, had little opportunities after this.

21 Tom Lawday (on 60’) - 6.5

Part of a strong attacking effort but lacked a clear moment to stamp his mark.

22 Max Green (on 63’) - 6.5

Distributed well but struggled to impose himself. Will push for more opportunities.

23 Jarrod Evans (on 63’) - 7.5

Controlled the game well at 10, with Marcus Smith shifting to fullback. Rewarded late on with a try through a gap.
