"Going home" - Former Bath star and international star joins fourth tier club

Having commenced his rugby journey at Camborne RFC, Matavesi, who hails from Cornwall, has since enjoyed stints at some of the most prominent clubs in the northern hemisphere.

He has showcased his skills for Exeter Chiefs, Racing 92, Ospreys, Newcastle, Bath Rugby, and most recently, the Toyota Shuttles in Japan.

After a remarkable 17-year journey since his beginnings in Camborne, the 32-year-old Matavesi has decided to come full circle and rejoin the club.

Director of rugby, Steve Larkins, expressed his delight at the signing, emphasising the significant impact Matavesi will have on the team's performance with his physicality and flair on the pitch.

He said: "To have Josh sign for Camborne RFC is a major coup for us as he will bring so much in terms of physicality and flair on the pitch but also a wealth of experience off it where he is an amazing role model for young aspiring players in our community."

Matavesi will not only contribute as a player for the Cherry & Whites but will also assume the role of the club's Youth Development Officer on a part-time basis. In this capacity, he will work closely with various vibrant boys' and girls' age groups within Camborne RFC.

Moreover, Matavesi will engage in outreach programs with local schools, further cementing his commitment to fostering rugby talent and supporting the community.
