THEY don't just get injured on the rugby pitch.

We'll be honest, we know you'll have read a list like this before. But sometimes the old ones are the best ones.

Don't say we don't give you what you want.

#1. Petrol fire-pit

Munster quartet CJ Stander, Damian de Allende, RG Snyman and Mike Haley have been injured after one of the players "threw petrol on a fire" at the weekend.

A Munster statement said de Allende and Snyman had suffered "substantial" burns to their legs, hands and face in a "fire pit accident" at the weekend.

In an interview with the SuperSport.com website, de Allende explained that the petrol can caught alight and exploded.

#2. Dishwasher attack

Matt Banahan added to the list of freak injuries suffered by rugby stars in 2017 — after slicing his wrist open while using a dishwasher.

Posting a snap of the injury on Instagram, the 30-year-old England international wrote: "Warning, graphic content after a fight with a dishwasher and a sharp knife."

"Pre-season fighting fit," he joked.

#3. Baldwin & the Lions

Back in 2017, Scott Baldwin made headlines across the world of sport when he was bitten on the hand by a lion prior to a game against the Cheetahs in South Africa.

The Wales hooker was stroking the head of a captive lion at the Weltevreden Game Lodge near Bloemfontein, South Africa when the big cat turned and bit him.

Fortunately the front rower was able to free his hand before further damage was done, but he was unable to play for the Ospreys in the Pro14 game after attending hospital.

“When you see the video it looks very quick,” said Baldwin. “But, for me, it felt like a lifetime, it felt like I was staring into the lion’s soul.

“Thankfully, Clarkey (Ospreys defence coach Allen Clarke] grabbed me around the waist and the lion let go. It was reassuring what Clarkey was telling me, he said the first thing he saw was that my hand was still attached and everything was going to be ok.”

#4. Team bus

Johan Goosen injured his knee in the simple act of getting off the team bus. "He has a small problem with his knee and he will be out, I think, for two or three weeks," explained co-coach Laurent Travers, doubtless through gritted teeth as he contemplated the reduced options at his disposal.
