Ford, Marler - England injury list and expected return dates

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond has revealed on the 1st October that he has been ruled out for six months with a torn Achilles tendon. He will miss England’s remaining 2020 Six Nations game with Italy and possibly the entire 2021 tournament. Tuilagi will also be unavailable for the Autumn Nations Cup, which starts this November.

The 31-year-old suffered an ankle injury in late September that required specialist treatment, ruling him out of action for up to 12 weeks. Although he will miss the entire Autumn schedule, he should be back for the start of the 2021 Six Nations.

A victim of the sheer amount of games since lockdown, the loosehead-prop has been battling on through an ongoing knee problem. Marler, who has openly criticised Premiership Rugby’s scheduling, has joined the squad for reconditioning, but he's unlikely to feature against Italy and is a doubt for the start of the Autumn Nations Cup.

Head coach Jones said Daly was being sent for tests on Tuesday on a “bump” on his leg that the Saracens utility back has had “for a good period of time” without it previously preventing him from training. There hasn't been a further update.

The fly-half has emerged as an injury doubt for England’s Six Nations finale against Italy a week on Saturday with a pre‑existing achilles problem and has withdrawn from the Teddington camp. It is understood England are confident he will be fit to take part in the Autumn Nations Cup, which begins against Georgia on 7 November, but less so over the rescheduled Italy match.
