Born for the Big Stage

Born in Warwick, Smith, 22, has steadily risen through the ranks to become one of England’s most promising playmakers. The grandson of former Scotland international Tom Elliot, Smith qualifies for England through residency, a decision that has paid dividends after a stellar season.

He has now won 12 England caps, starting four of England’s last five matches in the 2025 Six Nations after displacing Harlequins’ Marcus Smith as Steve Borthwick’s first-choice fly-half.

A Breakthrough Season

They are also exploring a short-term deal for Gloucester and Wales star Gareth Anscombe to plug the gap for 12 months while preparing a big-money bid for Smith. With £600,000 available to spend, Tigers’ bid will undoubtedly give Saints a major headache as they seek to retain their star man.
