Fans react to "outrageous" Jonny Wilkinson video

The clip, posted on Wilkinson's Instagram, was captioned: "We all need a little loosener sometimes!" after the former England star missed, seemingly deliberately, with his first attempt.

However, there was no mistake second time around as the World Cup winner calmly sent the ball through the hoop, prompting an outpouring of reactions from fans amazed that he can still produce such accuracy.

Now 47, Wilkinson played at fly-half during his illustrious career, turning out for Newcastle Falcons and French giants Toulon while also representing England and the British & Irish Lions.

He earned 91 caps for England and played a pivotal role in their historic 2003 Rugby World Cup triumph. Wilkinson famously kicked the winning drop goal in the final against Australia, securing victory in the last minute of extra time.

The World Rugby Hall of Famer also battled through a series of injuries during his career and helped England reach another World Cup final in 2007.

At club level, Wilkinson enjoyed a hugely successful spell with Toulon, while he toured twice with the British & Irish Lions. He featured in the 2001 tour of Australia and the 2005 tour of New Zealand, earning six Lions caps.

His latest trick has now attracted plenty of attention, with fans and famous names alike taking to the comments to praise the outrageous accuracy of his kick.

England cricket legend Jonny Bairstow, who won the 2019 Cricket World Cup, simply said: "That is just outrageous!"

Former Toulon teammate and Wallabies legend Gits then joked: "Jbear it’s time to come clean and say Gits taught u everything."

Barbering influencer Gareth Philpot was equally impressed, writing: "The fact you deliberately missed that first one is outrageous. Just so we can think oh maybe he is real. Then second turn just slots it. The man’s the goat."

There were plenty more comments from amazed fans, with the clip providing yet another reminder of just how exceptional Wilkinson's kicking ability was, and clearly still is.
