Fans rank the best and worst rugby players to meet in real life

"Met James Haskell while he was filming something at my gym and he was really great. He'd been filming for about 5 hours at that point, I believe, so you could tell he was pretty tired but as soon as I walked up he was all smiles, chatting, gave me a compliment and was more than happy to take a picture with my and my buddy."

A second fan added: "Haskell has a good reputation down in Dunedin, a little too scrappy on the field but seemed to embrace how close the fans were with the Highlanders. Seemed like a super nice guy and was good with the kids running upto him brandishing pens."

"Schalk Brits nicest bloke you'll meet, goes round after every game takes pictures with people chats with them, always smiling. One of my fondest memories of him was after we beat Ulster at Ravenhill as he was walking around the pitch one of the Ulster fans gave him the middle finger, Brits walked up to the bloke and shook his hand."

"Met the Honey Badger after Aus beat us in the Aviva in 2013. I somehow blagged my way into the post match function in the bowels of the stadium. It was actually his old man Mark(?) who made sure Nick stopped and took a photo with me. Couldn't speak highly enough of the both of em."

"On the flight home from the 2003 World Cup, my Mum got him to sign the inflight menu (not kidding). He even gave me his official pin badge. What a guy."

"I honestly can't speak highly enough of this guy! He is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met and I've met him on a few occasions. He always would stop and chat to you after a match and one time he invited my mam and I(12 yo boy) down to meet all the players in the pub after a game vs. Leinster in Dublin even though he had only just met us.

"And another time he stayed out on the pitch so long signing autographs that the stadium announcer had to call him in multiple times and when when this wouldn't work they sent the security men out to get him (This has actually happened more than once at matches I've attended). He is such a down to earth and sound guy."

"I've worked with Dellaglio for BT Sport, and afterwards we went out for drinks in Cardiff (Summer Sevens.)

Top bloke; refused to let anyone else buy drinks and had a few photos with fans who'd travelled down to Cardiff for the Sevens."

"Surprisingly Chris Aston was pretty cool. I met him right after the game where he was punched by Manu, and had a huge blow in the side of his head with stitches.

"He came out of the locker room and was all smiles and chatting with Tigers fans and taking pictures (Here's the pic http://imgur.com/IipyU3y). I asked him about the incident and he said something along the lines of "nahhh, it's rugby, its all good". I was surprised, I would have been in a horrible mood."

"I saw him in the stands just after he started working for Sky Sport in the UK right after the 2001 RWC NZ v SA quarter final while with my father. My dad wanted a photo (which he was very happy to help out with). Straight away Dad asked if he'd mind if he could do the same, but with me in the photo.

"The camera crew were telling Sean that he was to go on air in 30 seconds (or something), to which he said "tell them we can't go on".
I said to Sean something along the lines of "Don't worry... do your thing" to which he said "Nah mate. Lets do this".

"The crew were telling him to hurry up, I kept saying 'Its ok..' and he kept saying "Nah its fine".
The final count down was counted down and Sean didn't move. We took the photo, we had a chat for a quick minute about the game and the result, then I watched him step in front of the camera and apologise for the delay due to "technical difficulties"."

"Was about 12 around new years 03/04 and saw George Gregan at Manly or Bondi can't remember which. Anyway had my rugby ball handy and ran in to a newsagent to get a pen then ran over to Gregan and asked for an autograph to which he promptly told me to fuck off.

"Being a big fan of his back then I was devasted. My aunty had to pretty much tackle my uncle who wanted to give him a tune up. At 6ft4 and 110kg and playing nrl he would have done some damage.

"ow that I think about it he was probably there to enjoy the beach with his family and didn't have time for a lanky out of breath kiwi kid asking to sign his grubby ball."

"I stood outside of the team hotel during the 1993 tour of NZ waiting to get autographs as they left from dinner. I got ALL players, management and support staff's autographs except Guscott's.

"When I asked for his, he laughed and walked away. I got talking to Ieuan Evans (Welsh winger) about his tour, and he asked to see what players signatures I needed. When I said Guscott, he told he me he was a "wanker" and not to worry about him."

A second fan wrote: "Arrogant prick who thinks he owns bath. Met him a few times and none have been good, haven't met anyone who has said differently."

Another said: "Guscott was on the plane sitting next to my sister when we were going to Rome to watch a 6Ns match a few years ago. He just straight up blanked anyone who tried to talk to him. I know it must be annoying but no need to be rude."
