Henry Pollock has quickly become one of the biggest stars in world rugby, but many fans are only now discovering that elite sport runs deep in his family.
The England and Northampton Saints back-rower’s mother, Hester Pollock, is a highly accomplished triathlete and grassroots coach.

Hester has represented Great Britain in age-group triathlon and competed at European and World Championship level over a number of years. Her international results include top-10 finishes at the European Championships, while she continued to compete into the masters age groups.
More recently, she was shortlisted for Participation Coach of the Year at the England Triathlon Awards, recognising her work growing the sport at grassroots level.
That coaching influence had a huge impact on Henry's development.
Speaking previously, Pollock revealed:
"Mum is the reason I love sport. She introduced me to fitness. We would wake up at 5.30am for a two-hour swim session on a Saturday and then go and do a triathlon at school. It was mad, but looking back now it made me who I am."

Before committing fully to rugby, Pollock competed in triathlons himself as a youngster, with the endurance training helping build the engine that has become one of his biggest strengths.
