EXCLUSIVE: England fly-half signs new deal at PREM Rugby club

According to RUCK sources, Atkinson has put pen to paper on a new deal and will remain at Kingsholm for the foreseeable future.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the form fly-halves in PREM Rugby and earned his first England cap last summer.

The news will come as a major boost for Gloucester, particularly after the Daily Mail reported last week that fellow young talent Seb Atkinson was attracting interest from Saracens and Harlequins.

Former Wasps fly-half Charlie Atkinson joined Gloucester from Leicester Tigers in 2023. He had moved to Tigers a year earlier from Wasps following the club's administration.

Atkinson previously signed a new contract with Gloucester in January 2025. The length of that deal was never disclosed, although the club confirmed it was "beyond the end of this season".

That agreement was believed to have run until 2027, meaning his latest extension will now keep him at Kingsholm beyond that point.

After Ross Byrne initially started last season at fly-half, with Atkinson deployed at fullback, the 24-year-old eventually forced his way into the No.10 shirt.

He went on to start each of Gloucester's final nine PREM Rugby matches of the season at fly-half, underlining his growing importance to the side.

Atkinson was first called into the senior England setup by Eddie Jones in 2022, when he joined a training camp.

In February 2024, he started for England A against Portugal, scoring four points in a victory.

He was then included in England's squad for their 2025 tour of Argentina and the United States.

Atkinson finally made his senior international debut in July 2025, coming off the bench to replace George Ford during England's 40–5 victory over the USA at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
