England stars react to Joe Marler's shock Celebrity Traitors exit

Marler — who earned 95 caps for England — had become a fan favourite on the BBC hit, charming viewers with his quick wit and sharp instincts as one of the most trusted “faithful.” Throughout the series, he led the charge to expose traitor Jonathan Ross, and the edit made it look as though victory was within his grasp. He’d even correctly guessed that Alan Carr and Cat Burns were Ross’s partners in deception.

But in a shocking turn, Marler’s closest ally, comedian Nick Mohammed, betrayed him at the final moment — paving the way for Carr’s unexpected win.

A clip posted to the England Rugby account captured the squad’s disbelief as Mohammed revealed Marler’s name. Players erupted in stunned laughter and groans, watching their old teammate fall just short of triumph.

Not everyone tuned in, though. “Joe’s made for that sort of stuff,” Ellis Genge admitted this week. “He’s a proper laugh. He enjoyed the telly and all the roles he has had on the box, but it is not my cuppa tea. Reality TV cringes me out.”

Carr, overcome with emotion after his victory, broke down in tears as he confessed his traitorous role to the remaining faithfuls — Mohammed and historian David Olusoga — before telling host Claudia Winkleman that the £87,500 prize would go to a children’s cancer charity supporting neuroblastoma research.
