England star George Ford crowned Quilter Player of the Series after flawless Autumn Internationals

The 32-year-old topped a strong four-man shortlist, earning close to 30% of the public vote and finishing ahead of France’s Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Italy’s Tommaso Menoncello and England teammate Ben Earl. All four were standouts throughout the Quilter Nations Series, but Ford’s blend of control, composure and creativity put him comfortably out in front.

England went unbeaten throughout the autumn, and Ford was at the heart of everything positive in their attack. He completed 100% of his passes across the series, the only fly-half across both hemispheres to do so and pulled the strings with trademark precision. His three drop goals also underlined his tactical mastery, with two of them coming in England’s statement victory over the All Blacks.

That performance at Twickenham was vintage Ford: 13 points from the boot, flawless game management and a level of calm that allowed England to dictate proceedings throughout. When he stood at first receiver, England looked sharp, organised and confident.

Ford brought up his 100th England cap earlier this year, as he led Steve Borthwick's side to a clean sweep of Summer wins of Argentina and the USA. And now, if this autumn is anything to go by, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Long regarded as one of the most intelligent players in the sport, his influence remains enormous for both club and country. A fully deserved accolade for a true playmaking master.
