Abbie Ward, a lock for the Bristol Bears and England, has announced her pregnancy with her first child.

At 29 years old, she was part of the England team that placed second in the 2022 World Cup in New Zealand.

On Instagram, she stated her excitement to have her child pitch side next season, and expressed her belief that athletes can also be mothers.

Ward, who was previously a player for Harlequins and DMP Sharks, and is married to Bristol coach Dave Ward, joined the club in 2021. She added that her baby is due in the summer, and that she plans to continue training while also supporting the England and Bristol teams.
