"Disaster" - Sam Warburton's World Cup predictions aren't very impressive in hindsight

Regrettably for the retired flanker, his predictions failed to hit the mark.

What happened:In the quarter-finals, they were eliminated from the tournament by South Africa, who ultimately emerged as the tournament champions. Nevertheless, it was an extraordinary display of skill and determination as Warburton predicted!

Warburton said: "England vs France and Argentina vs Ireland.

"Semi-final will be a minimum exception (for England) from this new squad and coaches. Third place and above will be a success."

What happened: 2/4. France and Ireland crashed out in the quarter-finals

Warburton said: Ardie Savea. He would have been my world player of the year for 20222 and has become a pivotal figure for the All Blacks since his debut in 2016."

What happened: The number 8 was undoubtedly one of the star performers of the 2023 Rugby World Cup

Warburton wrote: "Apologies for the Welsh bias but where a lot of other teams have stable squads and will tinker very little, Mason Grady could have a real impact at centre or on the wing for Warren Gatland's side."

What happened: Failed to make much impact in his two appearances.
