Deon Fourie's stunning Stormers score crowned URC Try of the Season for 2024/25

DHL Stormers veteran Deon Fourie has claimed the URC Try of the Season for 2024/25, topping a public vote with a jaw-dropping finish against the Scarlets.

The try, a highlight-reel team effort, featured a flurry of offloads, dummies, and slick footwork, culminating in Fourie dotting down after a sweeping move that epitomised the Stormers’ dynamic attacking style. It stood out in a competitive field of 10 nominees and won over fans across social media.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu Named South Africa’s URC Player of the Season

Fourie wasn’t the only Stormer honoured, with rising star Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu named South African Vodacom URC Player of the Season.

Despite missing the start of the campaign through injury, the 23-year-old playmaker was a standout performer for the Cape Town side. His vision, kicking game, and calm under pressure helped guide the Stormers’ attack and saw him finish joint-fifth in overall points during the league phase.

The award, which is part of the SA Rugby Awards, was determined by votes from the South African media, franchise coaches, and the Springbok Director of Rugby himself, Rassie Erasmus.

SharksFest Wins Innovation Award

Off the field, the Hollywoodbets Sharks took home the Innovation Award for their bold re-imagining of the matchday experience: SharksFest.

Designed to draw in both first-time fans and loyal supporters, SharksFest turned regular home games into full-scale events. Featuring family zones, live entertainment, interactive activations and more, the festival atmosphere boosted engagement, attendance, and revenue, which was a winning combination in the eyes of the URC selection panel.

The Innovation Award recognises clubs that grow the game through creativity in fan experience, digital outreach, and community engagement. In that arena, the Sharks led the charge.
