Date confirmed for 2027 Rugby World Cup draw - All Blacks legend Dan Carter joins presenter team

Men’s Rugby World Cup Australia 2027 has confirmed a heavyweight line-up of rugby greats who will front the official tournament draw on Wednesday, 3 December, marking a major milestone now that all 24 teams have secured their place at the expanded global showpiece.

World Rugby Chair and former Wallaby Brett Robinson, All Blacks icon and double World Cup winner Dan Carter, Australia’s most-capped player James Slipper, and Olympic gold medallist Alicia Lucas will take centre stage as Draw Presenters.

The draw will be broadcast live in Australia on Stan Sport, 9Gem and 9Now, and streamed globally on World Rugby’s YouTube channel. Former Wallaby and Stan Sport analyst Morgan Turinui will host the show, guiding fans through every twist as the 24 teams learn their pool opponents.

Viewers can expect a full pre-show to build anticipation, followed by post-draw analysis breaking down every storyline and key clash with live reactions from the Wallabies camp.

RWC 2027 Managing Director Chris Stanley welcomed the announcement:

“With all 24 teams now confirmed, the draw is an important moment for players, fans and the global rugby community. We’re thrilled to have such a distinguished line-up of legends leading the draw.”

The 2027 tournament, running from 1 October to 13 November, will be the first Rugby World Cup to feature 24 teams, significantly expanding the global stage. Australia is preparing for an influx of 250,000 international visitors, with the tournament forecast to generate AUD$1.3 billion in direct visitor spending across its seven host cities.

The event is also expected to inspire major participation growth in the sport, with Rugby Australia targeting 200,000 players by 2029.
