For some players, days off are a chance to get away from rugby for a few days, get healthy and prepare for the next game. Courtney Lawes, still sporting his black eye, used it as an opportunity to make someone's life brighter.
The England second-row went to meet young Northampton Saints fan Alfie, who is fighting childhood lymphoma.
It is a type of cancer that develops in the lymph system, which is part of the body's immune system.
Taking to Instagram, Lawes wrote: "What an absolute privilege it was to meet this lil hero today.
"It’s people like Alfie that show you what it is to be truly brave. Iv promised to teach him my “secret tackle techniques” when he gets out of hospital, and anything anyone can donate to help that happen would be appreciated more than you know ❤️ #TeamAlfie
