CHAMP: Ealing Trailfinders confirm double signing of New Zealand stars

Taylor, who was integral to Otago’s run to the 2025 NPC Final, makes the move north for his first experience of European rugby. Comfortable on both sides of the flank, the dynamic 24-year-old brings versatility and physicality to an already competitive back-row group.

“I’m feeling excited and grateful to join the Ealing Trailfinders family,” Taylor said. “All the players and management have been very welcoming and I’m looking forward to making a positive impact on the club.”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward believes Taylor’s arrival ticks multiple boxes for the Trailfinders.
“Harry has been a great addition to the squad,” Ward said. “His ability to move between openside and blindside will help us cover different positions in the back row. His experience from the NPC will be very valuable in our Champ campaign. With his background and age, he’s a player I’m excited to see develop.”

Joining Taylor in West London is 25-year-old prop PJ Sheck, who arrives from Super Rugby giants The Blues. Renowned for his explosive ball-carrying and heavy defensive presence, Sheck adds power, depth and versatility to the front row — and like Taylor, this will be his first taste of English rugby.

“I’m pretty stoked to be here in England playing for Ealing Trailfinders,” Sheck said. “I’m looking forward to growing my game around the unique style of play the Trailfinders provide. They play structured and quick rugby which is an exciting prospect.”

Ward is equally enthusiastic about the prop’s arrival. “It’s great to have PJ with us,” he added. “He primarily plays at tighthead but can cover both sides of the scrum. He’s been a strong addition in training already and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do in the Champ.”

With two promising New Zealand forwards now in the mix, Ealing’s ambitions for the season ahead have received a timely boost.
