CHAMP: Round 3 - Ealing & Caldy stay unbeaten as London Scottish bag first win of the season

Nottingham suffered their first defeat of the season as Caldy upset the home side. Tries from Finn Theobald-Thomas and Evan Mitchell gave their side the lead going into the break. Yet, Kieran Wilkinson kept Caldy in touching distance with a try.

As the game went on, the lead changed hands. Tries came, but it was Rhys Tudor's try that secured a bonus point victory for Caldy. Nottingham will now look to bounce back from defeat as Richmond comes to town on Friday. At the same time, Caldy will pursue another victory as they face Cambridge.

Ealing definitely looks like the team to beat in the competition. They secured another dominant victory over Richmond. It was another mesmerising first half display. Scores from Patrick Campbell, Deago Bailey, Jordy Reid, and Matt Cornish left Richmond a tough mountain to climb in the second half. Richmond had no answer for Ealing. Richmond will now travel to Nottingham next, as Ealing prepares for a clash with Coventry.

The Warriors bounced back after a disappointing defeat to Hartpury with a massive win over Ampthill. The first half was close, with Worcester tries coming from Jasper Spandler, Matt Kvesic, and Will Trewin. Ampthill got early scores from Louis Grimoldby, Oscar Wilson, and Tota Auvaa.

The second half saw Worcester run away with the game, outscoring Ampthill 28 points to seven. After suffering a tough defeat to Hartpury, it's just the result Worcester were hunting for. The Warriors will travel to Doncaster on the weekend, and Ampthill will look to get back to winning ways against Bedford Blues.

Chinnor captured an impressive victory over Coventry. The home side's heart was on full display. Coventry pulled out to an early 19-0 lead with tries from Morgan Strong, Ewan Baker, and David Opoku-Fordjour. Chinnor gained momentum with two tries before halftime. Then in the second half, they stormed ahead as Robin Hardwick, Alun Walker, and Jamie Carr went over the tryline. Both teams are in for challenging encounters next, as Chinnor head to Hartpury, and Coventry take on Ealing.

The contest between Bedford and Hartpury was a high-scoring, close affair, which saw the home team take the spoils. Cai Gealy and Rhys Price got their team off to a rapid start. Following that, a try from Robbie Smith gave the visitors a healthy advantage at the end of the first 40. Bedford fought back hard with tries from Joey Conway, Oisían Heffernan, and Dean Adamson. Harry Bazalgette kept Hartpury in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Blues got the victory. Bedford will face Ampthill next, whilst Hartpury prepare to welcome Chinnor.

London Scottish got their first win in the league on Saturday as they travelled to Cambridge and came away with the victory. Hayden Hyde scored the first try after a Cambridge penalty. Bailey Ransom and Seb Driscoll added to the points tally to give London Scottish control going into halftime. In the second half, the away side maintained their control to get their first victory. The London-based side will look to keep this winning momentum going, taking on the Cornish Pirates, and Cambridge will journey to Caldy.

The rain was pouring down at The Mennaye. It was Iwan Price-Thomas who scored the first points of the game. Matt McNab answered back for the Knights, but then Dan Hiscocks got his team the momentum going into the break. A try for Morgan Jones and a late penalty meant the result ended level. Both teams will be pursuing victory next time out against London Scottish and Worcester Warriors.
