Building on last season’s successful partnership, Canterbury of New Zealand has reaffirmed its commitment to women’s rugby by renewing its deal with Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) for a further two years.
The iconic rugby brand becomes the first commercial partner to renew with the league, underlining its continued investment in the growth and visibility of the women’s game in England.
As part of the renewed partnership, Canterbury will once again provide every registered player in the PWR with elite-performance rugby boots and an item of kit. The initiative, which launched last season, saw hundreds of pairs of boots supplied to players across England’s top women’s competition — a move that was widely praised across the rugby community.
More than 450 players across all nine PWR clubs will benefit from the programme this season. Canterbury’s boots are tailored to player position, ensuring the best possible fit for performance: the Speed boot for backs, Phoenix for hybrid players, and Stampede for forwards.

The partnership aims to equip players with world-class footwear and kit, giving them the confidence to focus fully on their game while showcasing Canterbury’s commitment to supporting the women’s rugby pathway.
Canterbury Ambassador Ellie Kildunne reflected on the renewal, saying:
“I remember Canterbury launching this initiative last season and it felt like an important moment for the sport. Women’s rugby is growing faster than ever, the renewal of the partnership is absolutely the right thing at the right time for the game.
The fact that Canterbury is partnering with the PWR again demonstrates their genuine commitment to support our growth. It is exactly the kind of support we need to keep taking the game to the next level!”
PWR Executive Chair Genevieve Shore echoed the excitement surrounding the renewed deal:
“I’m delighted to be renewing our partnership with Canterbury. To have a brand of their calibre so excited about extending their partnership with the PWR is a sign of how our league continues to go from strength to strength. To have Canterbury supporting our athletes in this way will ensure they’re equipped for the biggest and best PWR season to date.”
