Wallabies flanker Carlo Tizzano has his sights firmly set on England’s Tom Curry if the Sale Sharks star gets the nod for the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia this summer.
Tizzano, who didn’t hold back while speaking on
Kick Offs and Kick Ons, revealed a frosty encounter with Curry that’s left him eager to settle the score.
The pair’s brief but icy exchange happened off the pitch – at the dentist, of all places – before England’s infamous last-minute defeat to the Wallabies during the Autumn Nations Series.
Awkward run-in before the big game
Recalling the unexpected meeting, Tizzano explained:
"It was actually on the spring tour, I saw him in the dentist and I wished him luck for the weekend, and he acted like I was a nobody. I was like, ‘fuck, here we go, you’re lucky I’m not playing mate.’"
Despite the snub, Tizzano clearly hasn’t forgotten and is relishing the chance to square off against Curry if the England flanker makes the Lions squad.
Ready for round two
When asked who he’d like to face this summer, Tizzano didn’t hesitate:
"I hope he [Curry] plays," he said with a grin. "Me and him have got a bit of beef."
With the Lions set to touch down in Australia, Tizzano is ready to take things beyond the dentist’s waiting room – and onto the pitch. If Curry tours, expect fireworks.
