Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones returned to action over the festive period.
The 34-year-old, who has been nominated for Sports Personality of the Year, returned from the World Cup with a groin problem and was set to have an extended break anyway.
But the Ospreys don't think he will play again until Christmas, meaning he will miss back to back European Champions Cup matches against Racing 92.
Fellow Wales international George North, who has had a hamstring problem, is due to return at around the same time.
