Alex Lozowski confirms shock Saracens departure

The 32-year-old back, who is equally comfortable stepping in at fly-half, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and will join Alex Sanderson’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

A natural organiser and creator, Lozowski arrived at Saracens from Wasps in 2016 and has since racked up close to 200 appearances in black and red, operating across the back-line throughout his time at the StoneX.

During his spell in north London, he played his part in an era of major success, helping Saracens lift three Premiership titles and two Investec Champions Cup crowns.

On the international stage, Lozowski earned his first England call-up for the 2017 tour to Argentina and has gone on to win five caps. His most recent involvement came during last season’s Six Nations.

Speaking on the move, Lozowski said: “I’m really excited to be joining Sale. It’s a club I’ve always admired — I love the way they play and I feel like I can fit in well and add something.

“Sale away has always been one of the toughest trips in the league. I haven’t won many games there, so I’m looking forward to being part of the home side.

“There are some fantastic players here. I know George Ford and the Curry brothers from England camps, but I’m excited to meet everyone else too.

“I also spent a few years with Alex Sanderson at Saracens. He’s an outstanding coach, but more importantly a brilliant person, and someone I’m proud to call a friend.

“At this point in my career, I’m ready for a new challenge. I want to enjoy my rugby, but Sale are ambitious — the owners, coaches, players and supporters all want trophies, and that matters hugely to me.”
