Micky Young has become the latest target of future father-in-law Alan Shearer's jokes after the football legend hilariously recounted the ex-rugby star's disastrous train mix-up.
Young, 37, retired from professional rugby in 2023 after an impressive career spanning more than 200 Premiership appearances. The scrum-half represented Newcastle Falcons across two spells, as well as Leicester Tigers, Bath, Gloucester and Toulon, earning a reputation as one of English rugby's most experienced No.9s. He is now engaged to Shearer's eldest daughter, Chloe.

The Rest Is Football podcast, the former England football captain shared the story.
"I've got to tell you a quick story about my eldest daughter Chloe and her fiancé, rugby guy, ex-rugby guy who used to play for Newcastle Falcons," Shearer said.
Young had attended Newcastle United's match before planning to travel to London to support Shearer's son, Will, who was taking part in the London Marathon.
However, despite arriving at Newcastle station in plenty of time, he accidentally boarded the wrong train.
"He went to the Newcastle game yesterday, and he was meant to get on the 5:59pm train from Newcastle to London. He got to the train station five minutes early, got on the train and then 15 minutes later heard the announcement: 'Welcome to everyone who's got on this train to Edinburgh.'"
The service was non-stop to the Scottish capital, leaving Young with no option but to continue north before finding another way back south.
Megabus rescue mission
After arriving in Edinburgh, Young boarded a £30 Megabus to London, eventually arriving at 6:45am after an overnight journey.
Shearer admitted he could hardly believe it.
"He had to go all the way to Edinburgh. He got on the Megabus, the 10pm Megabus, which cost him £30 from Edinburgh to London and he got in at 6.45am this morning."
The former Newcastle United striker joked that the incident hardly inspired confidence.
"So I said to him, 'You are meant to be looking after my f***ing daughter in the future!'"
Shearer then revealed he called the former Premiership scrum-half an "idiot" after Young explained the coach had stopped at Dunbar, Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield before finally reaching London.
"Honestly, I said, 'Really?' and he said he stopped at Dunbar, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield and I said, 'Oh you idiot!'"
It was a rare off-field error for a player who built his career on sharp decision-making, but it's one blunder that Young is unlikely to hear the end of any time soon.
