27 Years Ago, Jonah Lomu Scored Four Tries In Iconic Win against England

Today, we recall All Blacks legend Jonah Lomu's incredible performance against England at the 1995 Rugby World Cup

The giant winger scored four tries in that Rugby World Cup semi final, blasting England out of the 1995 Rugby World Cup and leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

Perhaps the most famous of his tries on that day was when he ran over Mike Catt, the hapless England fullback who did all he could to attempt to stop the 118kg flyer.

Speaking about the try, Catt said: “If a 15 (fullback) has to make a tackle, that means 14 other people have missed that person,”

Jonah Lomu Facts:

He weighed 120 kg and was 1.96 metres tall, but could run 100 metres in 10.8 seconds
In 1996, McDonald's New Zealand named a burger after Lomu
He's the only rugby player ever to feature on the front cover of TIME magazine
According to the Telegraph, Leeds were ready to make a third bid to attract All Blacks giant Jonah Lomu to England in 2001
He played 63 tests as an All Black, scoring 37 tries
In 2001 he helped New Zealand win the Rugby World Cup Sevens.
