Australia 2027 will be the 11th Men’s Rugby World Cup — and the first with the expanded 24-team format. That means:

The 2027 Rugby World Cup fixtures span seven consecutive weekends, designed to maximise attendance, global reach, and player welfare.
Perth opener makes history
The tournament kicks off with a landmark moment in Perth | Boorloo on 1 October, as hosts Australia face debutants Hong Kong China in the opening match.
The Wallabies then take their pool campaign across Sydney | Gadigal and Brisbane | Meeanjin, giving fans nationwide the chance to be part of a once-in-a-generation celebration.

Springboks defend their title in Adelaide
Reigning champions South Africa start their campaign in Adelaide | Tarntanya on 3 October, taking on Italy as they chase a historic third consecutive title.
Adelaide Oval will also welcome Zimbabwe back to the Rugby World Cup for the first time since 1991, facing Waleson 2 October.
Weekends packed with rugby festivals
The 2027 Rugby World Cup fixtures are designed around weekends to maximise attendance, with just two Monday matches across six weeks. Every host city will host multiple games each weekend, creating a true rugby festival as fans from up to four nations gather in one place.
Super Sunday: five matches in one day
For the first time in history, the pool phase concludes with a Super Sunday on 17 October, featuring five matches in a single day:

Knockout drama across Australia
Australia 2027 introduces the first-ever Round of 16, hosted across Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
Quarter-finals follow on 30–31 October in Brisbane and Sydney, leading to the semi-finals, bronze final, and the ultimate climax:
