2018 Six Nations injury list: Who's ruled out and who is doubtful

Updated on a daily basis, this list of injuries for each country competing in the Six Nations. This information is thoroughly researched but can never be 100% accurate.
ENGLAND - Total players currently ruled out: 14
SHORT-TERM
Beno Obano - The prop will miss the Six Nations opener with Italy after suffering a knee injury.
Charlie Ewels - The forward will be out for a further two-three weeks with a hamstring issue according to the Bath Chronicle .
Matt Mullan - The prop should return at the end of January following a rib injury according to the Coventry Telegraph.
Piers Francis - Remains in the concussion protocol after suffering a bad head knock on December 30 against Harlequins.
Will Spencer - Will be missing for two or three weeks due to a minor ankle operation, via Worcester News.
Kyle Sincker - He will undergo further assessment and treatment on a possible hamstring injury with his club this week.
Zach Mercer - Sent home with illness
DOUBTFUL
Nathan Hughes - Ruled out for 10 weeks around Christmas due to a knee ligament injury.
Ellis Genge - Underwent shoulder surgery at the start of December with a prognosis of two months out.
Henry Slade - The playmaker will not travel to their pre-championship training camp after sustaining a shoulder injury
RULED OUT
Billy Vunipola - Ruled out for three months by Saracens last week following an arm fracture against the Ospreys.
Elliot Daly - Sidelined for 12 with an ankle injury in December, ruling the British and Irish Lions back out of the tournament.
Tom Curry - Yet to come back from the dislocated wrist injury he suffered back in November on England duty.
Semesa Rokoduguni - Given a four-month layoff following shoulder surgery after picking up an injury at the start of December.
FRANCE - Total players currently injured: 9
SHORT-TERM
Morgan Parra - Knee injury suffered against the Ospreys last week may rule him out of France's opening fixtures with Ireland and Scotland.
Fabien Sanconnie - Sprained his knee at the start of January, leaving him in doubt to start the tournament for France.
Loann Goujon - On his way back from a hamstring injury and could return by the beginning of February.
RULED-OUT
Gabriel Lacroix - Rising star on the wing for La Rochelle ruptured his ACL against Ulster and is out for the season.
Camille Lopez - France's number one fly-half broke his ankle back in October and is not due back until April.
Judicael Cancoriet - Ankle injury will keep the young and talented Clermont back-row out for two months.
Charles Ollivon - Favourite of former coach Guy Noves is out for the season with a fractured shoulder blade.
Damian Penaud - Talented centre ruled out for three months in the middle of December after fracturing his foot.
Wesley Fofana - Herniated disc was confirmed at the end of December, ruling the France veteran out for three months.
IRELAND - Total players currently injured: 11
SHORT-TERM
Finlay Bealham - Knee injury suffered in training is not expected to keep Bealham out for long according to The42.
Dave Kilcoyne - Will miss Ireland's training camp in Spain this week after picking up a knee injury last weekend for Munster.
Luke Marshall - Back this week for Ulster 'A' from an Achilles injury that has kept him out dating back to October last year.
Craig Gilroy - Underwent surgery on a fractured cheekbone last week but should return to action at the start of February.
DOUBTFUL
Sean O'Brien - Leinster suggested that O'Brien could return at some point "during the Six Nations window" after hip surgery, although there is no set date.
Garry Ringrose - Sustained an ankle injury against Ulster a couple of weeks ago that will rule the 22 year-old out of the opening two matches.
Niall Scannell - Facing four to six weeks out from the start of January with a broken thumb, so could feature later in the tournament.
RULED OUT
Jamie Heaslip - There is no public timeframe on Heaslip's return from a back injury, which has kept him out since last March.
Rhys Ruddock - Unlikely to return during the tournament after suffering a serious hamstring tear against Exeter Chiefs last December.
Tommy O'Donnell - Another back-row whose return date has not been set after sustaining a shoulder injury on Munster duty.
Jared Payne - Yet to play this season having suffered a succession of migraine headaches since last year's British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.
ITALY - Total players currently injured: 4
SHORT-TERM
Federico Zani - Sidelined by a calf injury that will keep the prop, who won six caps in his debut season in 2017, out for a few weeks.
RULED OUT
Michele Campagnaro - Ruptured his knee ligaments at the start of the season with the Premiership champions, ruling him out for nine months.
Angelo Esposito - Another knee injury, this time an ACL tear suffered by Esposito around Christmas for Treviso which will keep him out until next week.
Ornel Gega - Talented hooker suffered a knee injury back in September, ruling him out for a period of eight months.
SCOTLAND - Total players currently injured: 10
SHORT-TERM
Alex Dunbar - Went off with a concussion against Exeter Chiefs and is currently in the protocol.
Darryl Marfo - A star last November, Marfo picked up a back injury at the start of January and is expected to miss Scotland's first two matches.
DOUBTFUL
Allan Dell - Working his way back from groin surgery and may feature in the final two rounds of the tournament.
RULED OUT
WP Nel - Broken arm at the start of December ruled the tighthead out for 12 weeks, putting him in doubt to play any part in the tournament.
Zander Fagerson - Scotland's rising star at tighthead was sidelined at the start of January for eight weeks with a foot injury.
George Turner - Another Scottish hooker to pick up an injury before the tournament, Turner damaged his knee medial ligaments against Exeter on January 20.
Ross Ford - Veteran hooker has been out since last November after suffering a pectoral injury before last year's autumn internationals.
Fraser Brown - Held out after a number of concussions, with Brown's condition being reviewed regularly.
Al Dickinson - No word on a return date for the 34-year-old prop who has not played a competitive game now in over a year.
George Turner - The hooker suffered a medial knee ligament injury against Exeter on Saturday and has been ruled out for eight weeks.
WALES - Total players ruled out: 10
SHORT-TERM
Liam Williams - late withdrawal for Saracens before their Champions Cup fixture with Northampton having returned from an abdominal injury the previous week.
Hallam Amos - Injured his ankle on Boxing Day but has been named in the squad and appears close to a return.
George North - Made his comeback off the bench for Northampton at Saracens and January 20, suggesting he will be available for the opener.
DOUBTFUL
Taulupe Faletau - Named in the squad despite working his way back from a knee injury, with the Bath number eight potentially available at the beginning of March.
RULED OUT:
Rhys Priestland - Hamstring injury against the Scarlets earlier in January seems likely to keep Priestland out of the entire tournament.
Sam Warburton - Stood down for the season as the British and Irish Lions captain recovers from a knee operation.
Dan Lydiate - Out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in last autumn's win over South Africa.
Jonathan Davies - Foot injury suffered in the autumn internationals will keep the Scarlets centre out of the tournament.
