CAST YOUR VOTE: Grassroots Rugby Meat Pies 'Try of the Season'

Now, one platform dedicated to celebrating the amateur game is giving players across the country the chance to earn bragging rights for the ultimate accolade: Try of the Season.

Grassroots Rugby Meat Pies has officially shortlisted the final 10 nominees for its Try of the Season competition, showcasing some incredible scores from across the grassroots rugby community.

With voting closing on 11th May, rugby fans are being encouraged to get involved and back their favourite effort.

Grassroots Rugby Meat Pies is a social media hub for men’s and women’s amateur rugby across England, Scotland and Wales; showcasing the best of grassroots rugby.

At the centre of the platform is its hugely popular Try of the Week competition, helping shine a spotlight on players, clubs and the characters who make grassroots rugby what it is. Nominees and winners also receive prizes from the platform’s growing list of partners; with this season's winner receiving a prize package worth £500 - and of course the Try of the Season trophy!

The project aims to build one of the UK’s biggest grassroots rugby communities; giving the amateur game the visibility and recognition it deserves - and RUCK Roots is thrilled to help spread the word.

The team behind the platform are passionate about using rugby as a force for good, with fundraising and community work sitting at the heart of the project.

Having previously raised more than £60,000 for children’s charities through earlier rugby initiatives — work which even saw them recognised on Surprise Surprise with Holly Willoughby — they are now looking to channel that same community spirit into new projects alongside the Grassroots Rugby Meat Pies platform.

Speaking about their latest charity ambitions with LooseHeadz, the team explained that rugby has always had a unique ability to bring people together and support important causes.

With plans already underway for their first pop-up event in September, they hope to continue building a community that not only celebrates grassroots rugby, but also helps make a genuine difference off the pitch as well.

The final 10 shortlisted tries are now live, with clubs, teammates and supporters already rallying behind their favourites ahead of the 11th May deadline.

Judging by the quality of the nominations, choosing a winner will not be easy.
