It’s always an enthusiastic encounter when these two teams meet, and this one in Round Two of the PREM Cup didn’t disappoint. Northampton Saints started the quicker of the two, new signing Callum Chick going over from close range to score his first of the match, converted by another new signing, Anthony Belleau.

But Saracens responded well, a penalty from Louie Johnson before Max Malins announced his return to the StoneX with a delectable cross-field kick, finding Rotimi Segun who had a run in to give the hosts a 10-7 lead. The host's captain for the evening then scored one himself, Malins breaking through before going over the line, Johnson unable to convert, hitting the posts.
The Green, Black, and Gold would take control of the first half, a try for another new signing, JJ Van Der Mescht, put the visitors back in front before Chick bundled over two more times before the break to extend the lead to 15-28.
It was, however, a familiar story as Saints dropped the ball off kick-off to welcome the hosts back into it as Malins again involved offloading the ball to Segun, who doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time. Johnson added the two from the tee 22-28.
Saracens came out the strongest of the two teams in the second half, Jack Bracken collecting a loose ball before running the length of the field to score, Johnson converting to put the hosts back ahead.
Saints responded instantly with a pick and go score, Craig Wright spotting the gap to bundle over from a couple of metres out, Belleau continuing to slot from the tee.
Jack Bracken would yet again get the StoneX to their feet with another fantastic score in the corner, this time beating George Hendy to touch down.
However, for the hosts, that would be that, as Aussie James Ramm scored twice to seal the victory for the visiting Saints faithful. Belleau was perfect from the tee, making an impressive start to his Northampton career.
