England U20 Women’s head coach LJ Lewis has confirmed a 34-player squad for a key training match against Wales this weekend, as the team gears up for the Six Nations Summer Series in July.
The squad gathers this week in Bristol for a three-day camp based at Shaftesbury Park, home of Bristol Bears Women. The camp marks the final preparation before England head into their Summer Series fixtures in Wales, where they’ll face Scotland, Italy and France.
In the build-up to that campaign, the team will take part in a behind-closed-doors training match against Wales at the WRU National Centre of Excellence on Saturday. The session will include three 25-minute matches designed to test combinations and intensity under near-match conditions.
England U18 Women’s head coach James Cooper joins Lewis and assistant coach Sarah McKenna for the camp in Frenchay, where the focus will be on sharpening cohesion and ramping up competition for places.
“The week is all about strengthening our bond as a team and building a competitive mindset ahead of our opener against Scotland,” Lewis said. “The preparations have gone really well, and the group is excited for the return of competitive rugby. Our match against the Springbok Women in April was a real learning experience, and we’re looking for that same edge again this weekend.”
The final squad for the Six Nations Summer Series will be named next week, with fixture details for the July tournament now confirmed. England will open against Scotland (5th July), meet Italy (11th July), and close against France (17th July), with all matches taking place at the CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach.
