Saracens and England winger Chris Ashton is facing another lengthy ban
The 29-year-old was banned for 10 weeks last season for gouging
He has been charged with two acts of biting
Saracens wing Chris Ashton is set to appear before an RFU disciplinary panel charged with acts contrary to good sportsmanship (law 10.4(m)).
The international back was cited for two incidents during the weekend’s Premiership match between Saracens and Northampton Saints.
He is alleged to have bitten prop Alex Waller on two separate occasions. The first occurred in the 24th minute of the match and the second incident, one minute later.
The player will appear before an RFU disciplinary panel chaired by Philip Evans QC with Tom Rees and Paula Carter in London on Tuesday, September 20.
Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder confirmed after the game that Waller said he had been bitten on the hand.
And speaking at his post-match news conference, Saracens boss Mark McCall added: "I have heard the accusation. I haven't seen the incident."
