Every Autumn Internationals Game Predicted — And We’ll Be Right

Some sides are rebuilding, others out to prove a point — and every match matters.

Here’s a prediction of every match that will be played this autumn.

A great game for both teams to start with as both are evenly matched and have reasons to be extra motivated against each other. England for their last-minute defeat against the Wallabies last year and Australia for their Lions tour defeat. With hime advantage, I predict Steve Borthwick's side to edge it.

Should be one-way traffic, even though it will be held at the neutral Wembley Stadium. The Boks may start a bit shaky and rusty but should comfortably see out Japan.

Another that should be comfortable for the hosts, there is simply a gulf in quality between these two.

An interesting one as it is set to be held in Chicago, which for me will actually stifle how the game will be played out, as the atmosphere won't be comparable to if it was held in Dublin. For that reason, I expect a low scoring affair, with the All Blacks to edge it.

Japan aren't a terrible side, but they just aren't much of a match for Ireland.

A bit of a tighter one, you would think that the All Blacks have too much about them to fail to beat Scotland, but if the crowd at Murrayfield gets sufficiently up for this one, it could prove to be a difficult game.

While Fiji are famous for their win over England a few years ago, something feels different about this England side and they seem to have found a good blend of pragmatic play that is also entertaining. Surely they don't lose again to the Pacific Islanders.

Italy are improving year-on-year. but the Wallabies have also gone up a gear in the past 18 months, and will see this as a banana-skin to be weary of, however will have the confidence that they can overcome it.

What a battle this will be. On paper, it sees the best two teams in the world face off against each other, and the atmosphere is going to be absolutely unbelievable. This is France's chance to put a real statement out that they are serious about winning a World Cup, and the Springboks have an opportunity to flex their muscles. Could go either way.

Although things are looking up for Wales, it would be surprising if they beat a strong Los Pumas side.

Too much strength and quality in the Springboks for Italy to have any reasonable chance.

A very close match that was decided on fine margins last year. Home advantage is often key and the All Blacks are not what they once were, despite still being one of the best in the world. If England click, they could do some damage.

Wales will be targeting this game going into the autumn as the one they must win, so they will be extremely ready to face Japan. After breaking their losing streak against the Blossoms, it is hard to see them not get a result here.

Too much of a gulf, but Fiji may cause some problems.

This will be such a good barometer of where each side is at. Both have different ways of playing and Ireland's pragmatic approach means that they can grind out results, which I think they do here.

Another very good game, Scotland will be quietly confident but well aware of the threat Argentina possess.

While Wales are still improving, they aren't yet anywhere near the All Blacks.

Such a hard one to call. The atmosphere will be electric and this will feel like a derby match, such has been the needle between the two recently. That might manifest itself as a cagey game, but it could also mean that players play with a bit more expression. For me, the former benefits Ireland and the latter the Boks.

Possibly a chance for the Wallabies to put out a statement to finish the autumn, which I think that they potentially do.

Going to put my neck on the line here. Chile are huge dark horses after qualifying for the World Cup in impressive fashion, and I feel like Italy might underestimate Pablo Lemoine's side.

No shocks here. Scotland should be too good for Tonga.

And finally, a rematch of the summer tour. Logic suggests that England won twice away in Argentina, so they will be able to win at home. While that isn't always the case in sport, that's my justification.
